You are invited to submit an abstract of original research related to Bronchiectasis for consideration as:

  • Poster Presentation
  • Rising Star

topics

The main topic areas have been determined and reflect key questions to be discussed:

  • AATD – Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency

  • Basic Science
    (aetiology & Physiopathology)

  • Comorbidities
    (including not pulmonary ones)

  • Diversity in Bronchiectasis
    (comparison between different healthcare systems, comparison of diagnosis, management and treatment in different regions, or in different social classes, etc. or in different contest like city vs rural, comprehensive discussion of the management in specific Asian Pacific, African or South American country highlighting the pros and cons of the system, etc.)

  • Epidemiology & Registries

  • Infections
    (including ABPA, Pseudomonas, Haemophilus, etc.)

  • Microbiota
    and its interaction with lung health. Special focus on the interaction between the gut and lung microbiota and the effects of long term antibiotics on the microbiota.

  • NTM – Nontuberculous mycobacteria

  • Paediatric Bronchiectasis

  • PCD – Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia

  • Pollution & Climate change
    and their effects on Lung Health with special focus on Bronchiectasis or NTM

  • Respiratory Physiotherapy & Airway Clearance / Nursing and Allied Healthcare experiences

  • Treatments and New Drugs

  • Tuberculosis & Bronchiectasis

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The deadline for abstract submission is April 13th, 2025. Abstract submission will only be accepted via the online platform.
  • Abstracts must be submitted on or before the above-mentioned deadline, the organisers reserve the right to reject any abstract not following the required format.
  • Changes on abstracts are possible until the deadline by re-entering the online submission.
  • The abstract must be written in English. If English is not your first language, please have it reviewed. The abstract must not contain any spelling, grammatical or scientific error.

No corrections are possible after the submission deadline. The abstract will be reproduced exactly as submitted. No proofreading will be done.

  • All the communications concerning the abstract will be sent to the submitter who will be responsible for informing the other authors of the status of the abstract.
  • For each abstract a presenting author has to be identified. For any change in the presenter’s name, please make sure to inform the Organising Secretariat wbc@lena.events
  • The presenting author must accept full responsibility for the content, submission and presentation of the abstract, and retain full copyright of their abstract and presentation.
  • By submitting an abstract, authors automatically authorise the Conference to publish, submit for publication their abstract (as well as picture(s), graph(s) and biography) in a dedicated supplement in a primary journal in Respiratory Medicine or include them in the Conference printings or online publications.
  • The submitted work must not be published as a full paper in a journal by the time of the meeting or have appeared in print elsewhere (except in abstract form) prior to the meeting.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

  • Structured abstracts are mandatory stating clearly the Background/Aims, Methods, Results and Conclusions.
  • Abstracts should be written in English and the complete abstract must not exceed the box space (500 words). Abstracts can contain formulas, pictures or graphs.
  • We recommend that you prepare your text in a word processing programme (e.g. Microsoft Word) and then copy-paste the final text into the online abstract submission form.
  • It is possible to submit more than one abstract
  • A submitted abstract can have a maximum of one presenting author
  • A submitted abstract can be edited online until the given deadline (April 13th, 2025)
  • Conflict of Interest/Disclosure: Abstracts must include an acknowledgement of any commercial funding sources. Authors should declare all commercial interests.
  • All studies must have been approved by institutional committees on Ethics of experimental and human investigations.

THE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION STEP BY STEP

To submit your abstract online, please follow the instructions:

  • Enter the online system and fill your personal details if you do not have an existing profile
  • Select the appropriate category “Call for Rising Stars” or “Call for Abstracts”
  • Select the appropriate topic among the list
  • Insert the authors and co-authors name
  • Insert affiliations for each author and associate
  • Make sure that you identify the Presenter among the existing authors
  • Insert the abstract Title
  • Insert the body (That must be submitted in the required format)
  • Upload the Competing Interest disclosures for each author (If there are no competing interest, it should be stated in the form)
