Australian Bronchiectasis Registry

The Australian Bronchiectasis Registry (ABR) is a national, multi-centre, observational research registry initiated in 2015 by a group of respiratory physicians with expertise in clinical management of bronchiectasis. The ABR was established under the auspices of Lung Foundation Australia in response to a lack of high-quality, nationally representative data and consumer support networks for non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis in Australia.

Initially known as the Principal Investigator Group, the steering committee of Respiratory Specialists with delegation for the ABR became known as the Australian Bronchiectasis Consortium, and later, when the New Zealand Bronchiectasis Registry (NZBR) was established, the Australasian Bronchiectasis Consortium (ABC). In 2024, the ABC evolved to a multidisciplinary consortium of Respiratory Specialists, Nurses, Physiotherapists and Scientists.
